On Tuesday, May 5th, the First Lady made her inaugural visit to the Big Apple, stating, “It’s a pleasure to be here in New York”. She had a full itinerary including being hosted by the United Nations and visiting with the cast of the popular children’s television show, Sesame Street.

“I just came from ‘Sesame Street’. I’m sorry. I never thought I’d be on ‘Sesame’ with Elmo and Big Bird. I was thrilled, I’m still thrilled. I’m on a high. I think it’s probably the best thing I’ve done so far in the White House.”

Tuesday evening was the main event with Michelle attending the time 100 gala honoring the 100 most influential people in the world including herself. The First Lady also took the opportunity to talk about the importance of public service, announcing the creation of the Social Innovation Fund that will help innovative nonprofit groups and social entrepreneurs.
