New York City, New York – May 19, 2009

First lady Michelle Obama hosted the opening spring gala for the American Ballet Theatre in New York City Monday night. She was on hand for the first performance of the season at the opening spring gala at the metropolitan opera house and used the opportunity to call for support for the arts.

She was joined by several other notable political leaders including doctor Jill Biden and Caroline Kennedy.
