MARK BARGER previews two new films.

Denzel Washington is a New York subway dispatcher, and John Travolta’s the bad guy who’s hijacked one of his cars, in “The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3”. This is a remake of a thriller from the 1970’s, which had the bad guys seeking a $1 million ransom for their hostages. Now, Travolta and company have upped the ante to $10 million and they demand that Washington be part of the delivery team.

“The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3” is rated R.

Eddie Murphy finds that his daughter’s imaginary world may be just what he needs to make his real world a lot better in “Imagine That”. Murphy plays a work obsessed financial executive who has precious little time for his daughter until his career starts to unravel. When he finds that reconnecting with her has some side benefits to his career, the bond between father and daughter gets even
tighter.

“Imagine That” is rated PG-13.
