Update: See Congressman Scott speak about the swastika and other offenses.

Days after a heated exchange between Georgia Congressman David Scott and an area doctor at a town hall meeting, a symbol of hate was spray-painted on one of the congressman’s offices.

Dr. Brian Hill asked Scott a health care-related question at the meeting and the two had a heated exchange. Scott says he is sure none of his constituents are responsible for the symbol painted at the sign to his office and adds that since the exchange of words at the town hall meeting he has received offensive letters and faxes from out of state numbers.

“It’s very unfortunate and certainly a very disappointing situation, but you know we’ve got to calm down here and let cool heads prevail,” Congressman David Scott said. “We’ve got a difficult issue here in health care and it’s bringing out a lot of frustration in individuals and we’re got to have certainly good prayer.”

The motivation of the vandals is still under investigation. Meantime, Scott has asked for extra security for himself and his family.
