Luther Vandross was outed as gay after his death.

The signs of hate are everywhere at the Philemon Missionary Baptist Church in Ada, Oklahoma.

The words “white power” are spray-painted on the windows. “Beware” is written on the church’s front doors and “KKK” covers the writing on their front sign.

“Vandalism is usually a crime that doesn’t have any kind of pattern or anything like that,” said Mark Bratcher, spokesman for the Ada Police Department.

Bratcher reported that this crime was committed under the cover of night, following the church’s Wednesday night service last week.

Police are now interviewing neighbors, and stepping up patrols in the area.
Other churches in Ada have been vandalized within the past year, but the message wasn’t the same.

“A church is a place of love and family and gathering. and it’s unfortunately, apparently an easy target,” said Bratcher.
