Haitian police are being forced to adapt to the dangers presented by thousands of people stranded on the streets, escaped prisoners, and as Haiti’s national police chief Mario Andresol puts it, “bad guys…trying to reorganize themselves.”

Andresol says there have been problems with people receiving aid and food, which has led to serious looting and “people who are angry.”

The police have increased patrols but they fear that in the coming weeks they will face more criminals as people try and survive on very little food and water. But Andresol hopes that Haiti will be stable again in a couple months.
