In the Heights star Corbin Bleu stat down to talk to theGrio about the his new role, race on Broadway and the evolution of Hollywood.
Bleu, who first received wide acclaim for his role as Chad Danforth in High School Musical, is now returning to the stage. For him, In the Heights is a musical that relates to everyone. It uses hip hop, Latin rhythms and a diverse cast to portray a block in New York’s Washington Heights.
Bleu acknowledges this is a divergence from typical Broadway plots — something he says his predecessors were instrumental in changing.
