Nikki Johnson, who grew up in the Emmanuel Baptist community and continues to sing in the choir, married Raymond Johnson in the church’s main chapel. The ceremony started with a bang as the Asase Yaa Drummers lead a drum processional down St. James Place, onto Lafayette Avenue and through the doors of the church, which is more than 100 years old.
