A Florida woman says she began robbing banks because of cancer.

Patricia Edwards claims she has leukemia, but that she is not dying from the disease.

“It’s not terminal,” Edwards said.

When she found out about the disease in 2005, though, she made herself a “bucket list” of things she hoped to accomplish; she said robbing was part of her plan.

Edwards is accused of robbing one bank in DeLand and a second in Sanford.

It is unclear how much cash Edwards got away with from the bank heists.

She reportedly told investigators she spent the DeLand money on bills and crack cocaine. When she was arrested for the Sanford job, she had just $100 left, stuffed in a mattress.

“Well, like I said, it was on my bucket list,” Edwards said. “But I don’t want to exploit myself because it’s not going to help my case, or anybody …”

While it was on her list, Edwards said she also had other motives.

“I had bills to pay. I was going through an eviction and I have rent to pay and I have a lot of bills to pay,” she said.

Edwards admitted she does regret robbing the banks.

“I feel really bad about it. But, just the initial idea was just to see if I could get away with it, first of all, besides, it was on my bucket list,” she said.

Edwards said she was scared “every second” of each robbery and that she did not plan them out much beforehand.

She hopes to go back to living a normal life once she is released.

The last item on her bucket list is a trip to Paris.
