Thelma and Louise, they’re not.

Julia Yarbough is a fit 44-year-old woman who wants to find herself a man. Her best friend, Silva Harapetian, is her sidekick/wing-woman/instigator.

“The reality is once you get past a certain age, things become tragic and comical if you’re single,” said Harapetian.

The two decided Yarbough’s quest for love was bigger than one city, or one state. It would take a trip across the country to find that special someone.

“I have been single for longer than I care to remember,” said Yarbough, who left her reporting job at the NBC station in Miami.

That’s when she decided to combine her love of travel with her quest for a mate. So, Yarbough and Harapetian packed up an SUV and headed west, with some minor success.

While in New Orleans, one enamored suitor did make a marriage proposal — not to Yarbough — but to her wing-woman Harapetian.

“So the marriage proposal came … not for me, basically,” Yarbough said.

Harapetian declined the matrimony, and the pair continued west.

“The more places I go and the more people I meet, the more chances I have of opening my pool of people as potential mates,” said Yarbough.

The two are documenting their entire trip on their Facebook page and on the website highwaytoahusband.com.

So far, they’ve made it just passed Texas. In Austin, Yarbough found romance.

“Mr. S was somebody that we met by accident, ” said Yarbough.

The pair went on three dates, and Yarbough says there’s definitely a connection.

But will she be heading back to Texas after the road trip is complete?

Her wing-woman answers that question:

“Yes, she will be back because I haven’t heard her be excited or talk about someone or enjoy a date as much as she did with Mr. S,” Harapetian said.
