The New York Post is reporting that baseball’s Sammy Sosa has changed the color of his skin back to its previous darker tone. Last November, Sosa shocked the world with pictures of himself with decidedly lighter skin. He released a statement saying the lightening was accidental and credited it to use of a “cosmetic cream.”
The story prompted a slew of attention including generous ribbing by Charles Barkley and numerous articles about the social significance of skin tone and the products that change it.
