Crystal Gale Mangum, 31, the woman who accused members of the Duke lacrosse team of raping her, held a press conference in her yard on Wednesday to announce that the new charges against her, involving arson and attempted murder, are false. Mangum couldn’t hold the press conference in the driveway of her home, because she she’s under house arrest, but she did treat reporters to hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, deviled eggs and fruit salad. (Just kidding about that last part.)

What is true is that she called reporters to explain why she allegedly assaulted her boyfriend, set his clothes on fire in a bathtub and threatened to stab him as her children, 3,9, and 10, and police officers watched.
