LeVar Burton returns to his roots on television

It’s been more than 30 years since he first made his acting debut in the wildly popular and critically acclaimed television mini series Roots. In the 80s and 90s, Burton’s fan base grew with his role on Star Trek: The Next Generation and his Reading Rainbow hosting gig. Now, Emmy Award-winning actor LeVar Burton is back with a new movie called The Jensen Project. It focuses on a secret community of geniuses who come together to solve the world’s toughest problems.

Aside from acting, Burton shared with us his other passion —Twitter. He explained his tweeting began because he had an impersonator. Soon after he began to in enjoy it as a way to connect with fans. On occasion, he’s known to have “tweet-ups.” Burton will send out an invite via twitter for fans to meet him at a particular location at certain time to throw an impromptu party.

Burton also discussed his acting legacy and what he plans to do next.
