A Pennsylvania church carnival is drawing fire over an unbelievable game.
The game “Alien Attack” encouraged players to shoot foam darts at an African American man dressed in a suit, a man some say looks very much like our president.
“I’m just shocked, shocked that they had this on church property,” said Kathryn Chapman. “You can see by the photos that I took, he has something resembling the presidential seal on his belt buckle and he’s holding the health care bill in his hand.”
The Massachusetts woman spotted the game two weeks ago at a church carnival in Roseto, Pennsylvania.
She was in town for a family reunion and was appalled to see the presidential image with targets over his head and heart.
“What is the message we’re sending our kids that you can shoot the image of the President of the United States,” she said in a phone interview.
Irvin Good, Jr., owner of GoodTime Amusement, says an employee designed the game this past spring and even with the seal he did not think the man in the game was President Obama.
“After it was brought to my attention, I thought maybe it could be a likeness, but it didn’t look like him at all,” Good said. “I voted for him. I don’t have anything against him. I think he’s doing as good a job as he possibly can. It was not meant to be that.”
Chapman’s not buying it.
“Any adult for sure or teenager playing that game and shooting at that game, there’s no way they couldn’t have known that was President Obama,” she said.
Good says it was just supposed to be a funny game where people pay a few bucks to shoot at a man and some aliens to win a stuffed animal.
In hindsight, he feels bad having offended anyone and has thrown the game in the trash.
“We just thought it was OK. Evidently it wasn’t,” he said. “We made a mistake and we apologize for it and I can’t do more than that.”
