Michigan State Police have released a sketch the man a suspected serial killer targeting African American men in and around Flint.

The suspect is a white man, but investigators aren’t ready to call the attacks racially motivated.

Officials don’t know whether the suspect is targeting black men, or if that’s simply who he comes across while walking late at night.

“I’ve never heard of this many people getting stabbed in my life,” Dr. John Skinner Jr., the Owner of Dr. Skinner’s Hairstyling Clinic, said.

As a barber for the past 50 years, Dr. Skinner has heard his fair share of stories, but news of a serial stabber in Flint has him troubled.

“You’re dealing with a nut here, and he is already too close to the edge,” Skinner said.

So far Michigan State Police have received hundreds of tips and now that the sketch has been released they are expecting hundreds more.

Since May the suspect has stabbed 14 men; five of them have died. All of the violent crimes have taken place at night.

“I hope it won’t happen to me,” Skinner said.

Police say the attacks may be racially motivated, they’re warning smaller framed, elderly black men to stay away from anyone asking for directions or help with car trouble.

“I don’t help anyone anymore, because if you bring out money, you don’t know who’s waiting around the corner, or who’s watching,” Flint resident John Harvey said.

Harvey says he’s not taking any chances. He’s a disabled Army vet, and he’s been carrying a concealed weapon.

“If I am walking around the block, and I see someone, I become very cautious, I usually put my hand in my pocket for a reason,” Harvey said.

Conversation about the serial stabber at Dr. Skinners Barbershop has been casual.

These men say they don’t walk in fear, and will continue to pay attention to their surroundings.
