NEW YORK (AP) — A peak performance coach who once worked with former New York Knicks star Allan Houston says in a lawsuit Houston damaged his career by trashing him instead of trumpeting his skills.

Art Rondeau late Monday sued the Knicks and Houston, who’s now a team executive.

Rondeau’s work involves helping athletes focus mentally to improve their games. He worked with Houston in 1999 and 2000.

Rondeau’s lawsuit says he helped Houston turn around shooting slumps but the All-Star guard never followed through on promises to praise Rondeau’s work publicly.

The lawsuit says Houston instead disparaged Rondeau to reporters, Knicks officials and others. The suit seeks more than $2.5 million.

The Knicks say the lawsuit is “completely without merit.”
