  • 2) I Am Legend (2007): In arguably one of his greatest dramatic performances, Smith held the screen virtually all by himself for most of this apocalyptic thriller's running time. He plays a military scientist who may or may not be the last man on the planet. A scary good time at the movies.

Man pops the question to girlfriend in TV commercial

When you watch a TV commercial, usually the ad is trying to convince you to buy something, but all commercials are not created equal. David Jones told his girlfriend he was going to be in a commercial playing the part of a superhero but when she tuned in to watch, she saw something completely unexpected.

Jones used his airtime to propose to his girlfriend Dee Horton while she was watching the commercial at work. Horton’s sister, Jones’ daughter, and the entire hair salon that she worked at were all in the commercial.

“I work on a lot of local little commercial spots and I bought the ring and I was looking at it one day and realized, although it was pretty, it wasn’t as big as it should be,” Jones said. “I though maybe she would pay more attention to the commercial.”

When Jones dropped off the commercial at the local TV station, they decided to do a story on the proposal and set up shop in the hair salon. Horton didn’t suspect anything because the salon has been trying to get some media attention to highlight a new hair treatment they offer.

“I got a text message saying that our local news channel would be in the salon and we’d go on at lunchtime,” Horton said. “When I got to work that day, I saw the camera people come in and I saw that they had a big sign up on the wall introducing the news channel.”

Horton did find it a little interesting that all of her friends came to the salon to watch the ‘super hero’ commercial with her, but she said she just thought “wow, I really have good friends here. They must really like me and David.”

Jones describes the couples fight with cancer, and how they overcame challenges in their relationship. He then asks family friends if “love is enough” before asking the big question.

“The moment I saw his face, I yelled, ‘there he is!’… I think it’s exciting to see him on TV,” Horton said. “But then I heard him say my name and I realized ‘Oh, my, he’s talking to me and instantly my heart started racing and I got tears in my eyes and I felt myself blluhing and I started listening to what he said and then I kind of put everything together and then he proposed.”

As the commercial was airing, Jones walked into the salon and got down on one knee. Horton said yes.
