7-year-old choked by classmates with jump rope

The Portland Oregon school district is investigating a case of bullying at an elementary school. The mother of a 7-year-old says last week 2 second graders held her son down and choked him with a jump rope during recess.
The mother says the principal, who was on the playground at the time, wasn’t paying attention. Now the boy’s mom has filed a police report.
Derontae Ball, 7, now has trouble eating lunch. He says it hurts when he swallows and his neck is sore. During the choking, he could not breathe for 10 – 15 seconds.
“I tried to scream for help but I can’t, ” said the boy.
The next day, Derontae’s mom snapped photographs of the scars on his neck.
“I’m hurt. I’m so mad on the inside. I know that they are kids, I know they are seven, but the supervision at the school has gotten bad,” said Lashawnia Ball, Derontae’s mother.
The mother is not satisfied with the reactions of school officials. She said her son had to sit next to the bullies in class the next day.
