Tyrese Gibson is an actor, R&B singer, and now an author of a new book, ‘How to Get Out of Your Own Way.” He sat down with theGrio’s Todd Johnson to discuss how he finds balance in his life and the inspiration behind his new book.

“I wrote this book for folks that are seeking clarity,” said Tyrese. “This book isn’t bashing men, it isn’t bashing women, it’s meeting dysfunction and certain challenges and obstacles where they are, and getting people to focus on the other side of these challenges.”

And his book isn’t the only way Tyrese is trying to educate others. He also uses his Twitter page as an online community to reach his followers.

“Twitter has allowed me to create the mind state of the people,” said Tyrese. “I’m one tweet away from putting in the universe and having people to start thinking and feeling and considering things that weren’t there before.”
