A rally will be held Monday night in support of a transgender woman beaten at a Baltimore McDonald’s.
The attack happened last Monday, April 16.
The victim, Chrissy Lee Polis, 22, identifies herself as transgendered. She said the beating was a hate crime. Polis says before she was attacked, one teen yelled that Polis was a man using the women’s restroom. The teen also accused Polis of talking to her male acquaintance.
Baltimore County police said a 14-year-old girl has been charged as a juvenile and an 18-year-old woman, Teonna Monae Brown, faces assault charges in the case.
A McDonald’s used a cell phone to record the attack, but did not intercede to help the victim. The owner of the franchise said that employee was fired.
Speaking to the Baltimore Sun, Polis said that watching the video was “like walking out of the closet all over again.”
Monday’s rally is scheduled for 7 p.m. outside that McDonald’s where the beating happened in Rosedale.
