NEW YORK (AP) — Rapper Jim Jones has made a return to a venue he’d rather avoid: a New York City courthouse.
The hip-hop artist was arraigned Tuesday on a charge of driving with a suspended license.
Jones signed autographs and took photos with fans as he left court, joking that he had been trying to stay out of the place.
In 2009, he pleaded guilty there to a misdemeanor assault charge for a punching friend of R&B star Ne-Yo in a Louis Vuitton store.
Jones, whose real name is Joseph Jones, was pulled over in his Bentley last month. Manhattan prosecutors say his license had been suspended over an unpaid ticket. His lawyer says Jones didn’t realize it.
Jones’ “We Fly High” was one of the top-selling rap songs of 2007. His new album, “Capo,” was released this month.
