From the Newark Star-Ledger:

Newark Mayor Cory Booker is bringing his knack for fund-raising to the national stage, and eying a possible run for the U.S. Senate.

“CoryPAC,” a federal political action committee, was officially formed on Monday, according to documents filed with the Federal Election Commission.

While members of the Democratic mayor’s inner circle say the committee is primarily a tool to help support federal candidates in 2012, they are not ruling out a bid for Senate in the future.

“There’s a potential for a Senate run if the lane opens up for a Senate run,” said a source close to Booker who was not authorized to speak on the record about the political action committee. “We plan to be very engaged as President Obama campaigns to be elected to a second term. This is a tool that will help us to raise money as we travel across the country.”
