New Haven police made seven arrests during a prostitution sting in in the Upper Chapel/Norton/Winthrop neighborhood on Wednesday night.

All seven people were walking the street and agreed to perform a sex act in exchange for money, Lieutenant Jeff Hoffman, who is in charge of the Street Interdiction Unit, said.

Shanita Armour, 30, Cletus Belton, 31, Karen Gaskin, 46, Shayne McArdle, 24, Tonya Riddle, 42, Cynthia Potucek. 50, and Tamyra Sellers, 37, were arrested.

“This type of behavior is unacceptable and remains a top priority to enhance the quality of life in our city,” New Haven Police Chief Frank Limon said.
