From NBC Philadelphia

The man suspected of fatally beating an elderly neighbor of Philadelphia’s mayor is in custody after being arrested at a suburban homeless shelter.

The Philadelphia Daily News reports 43-year-old Edward Gause was arrested Saturday night at a shelter in nearby Upper Darby.

Gause’s was wanted in the November 2010 death of 76-year-old Robert Lancaster. Investigators say Gause beat Lancaster to death in a dispute over how much he was owed for work he’d done on the
victim’s house.

Gause was turned over to Philadelphia police and arraigned Sunday on charges including murder and robbery. It was not clear if he had an attorney.

Lancaster lived down the street from Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter in the city’s Wynnefield neighborhood.
