A new hope for a family displaced by fire

VIDEO - After their home was destroyed in a massive in Camden, New Jersey, the Lewis family is not only getting used to their donated home, but they're thankful, hopeful, and happy...

For the Lewis family in Camden, New Jersey, stories of destruction and misfortune are not only common, but merely a facet of life in the city. They recall the devastating loss of their home on June 9th to fire, when a nearby fire at a former Tire Warehouse spread to their block destroying twenty three buildings.

Yet this story isn’t of loss. Terrell Lewis says his family of four is now living in a donated house with a three-month lease, and are looking into funding to start a new mortgage.

“I’m doing better than I thought I would,” said Lewis’ fiance Jameela. “You know, with all the help and support”.

The family attributes all that they have now to donations given to them, from family, friends, employers and even strangers and say they are very thankful.

The positive experience after the disaster has even had so much of an impact that 4-year-old Rasheed now wants to be a firefighter too.
