An accident in Northeast D.C. caused road closures and diverted rush hour Tuesday morning. In the resulting backup, a pregnant woman gave birth to a child.

Authorities confirmed a fatal accident at Florida Avenue and Eckington Place. A tractor trailer collided with two dirtbikes in the intersection.

According to police, the dirtbike riders attempted to pass the truck and were struck. One of the riders died, and the other sustained serious injury. Police said neither of the motorbikes had license tags and were not legal for the street.
