WEST TISBURY, Mass. (AP) – President Barack Obama took advantage of idyllic summer weather on Martha’s Vineyard Tuesday to go bike-riding with his family, even as street fighting raged in volatile Libya a day after Obama went before TV cameras to herald rebel advances.

Obama ignored a reporter’s shouted question on the whereabouts of Libyan strongman Moammar Gadhafi as he cycled by in rolled-up jeans and a bike helmet along with wife Michelle and daughters Sasha and Malia. The four were biking in Manuel F. Correllus State Forest, a 5,100-acre preserve where the first family also went cycling during their previous two summers on this posh island off the Massachusetts coast.

Aides said Obama got national security and economic briefings before setting out under bright, sunny skies to hit the bike trail for a quick spin.

The president arrived last Thursday for a 10-day break from Washington that has been interrupted by developments in Libya. He is scheduled to return to the White House Saturday.
