Beyoncé makes a big impact with her first baby

Lady Gaga dressed up as a man to sing “You and I,” Lil Wayne rocked a pair of leopard print jeggings while performing “How To Love,” Bruno Mars gave a soul stirring tribute to Amy Winehouse, but arguably the most memorable moment of the MTV Video Music Awards was Beyoncé Knowles, revealing that she and her husband Jay-Z are expecting a baby.

It all began at the star-studded VMA pre-show. Celebs shuffled down the red carpet at a hurried pace while on display for the paparazzi. Beyoncé arrived in a red floor length gown stopping for the photographers, after briefly posing with her hands at her sides, Beyoncé was interrupted by her stylist who came over to straighten out her gown and make sure she was photo ready for the big reveal.

The “Run The World” songtsress then put her right hand above her belly, and her left hand below, showing off what appeared to be a pronounced baby bump. The paparazzi went wild and the blogosphere erupted. MTV tweeted “OMG Beyonce just made a huge announcement on the #vma carpet!” #baby!!!!!”

Beyoncé had stole the spotlight of the entire 2011 MTV Video Music Awards and the show hadn’t even officially begun.

It wasn’t until some 90 minutes later that Britney Spears took the stage and introduced Beyoncé as the next artist to perform. As the music started Beyoncé said clearly into the mic, “I want you to feel the love that’s growing inside of me.” After performing a spirited rendition of the track “Love On Top” off of her recent album 4, Beyonce beamed at a cheering audience, unbuttoned her jacket and rubbed her belly. The MTV cameras caught the reaction of Jay-Z who was cheering and smiling alongside Kanye West who was congratulating his Watch The Throne partner.

After Beyonce’s performance, there was an overwhelming reaction from fans and celebrities on Twitter in response to the pregnancy announcement. It was just a matter of moments before “BEYONCE IS PREGNANT” became a global trending topic and remains trending topic today. One fan tweeted a clever play on words “Beyoncé is pregnant! It’s Destiny’s Child.”

“Congrats on the baby B and Jay,” Chris Brown said, following an impressive performance of his own. Former Destiny’s Child member Letoya Luckett found herself emotional after hearing the big news, “WOW!! In tears!! Congrat’s BEY & JAY! RT @MTV: OMG Beyonce just made a huge announcement on the #vma carpet! #baby!!!!!.”

The 29-year-old Grammy Award winning artist joked earlier this year that she wanted to be a mom by age 30. “I always said I would have a baby at 30,” Beyoncé said during a June Piers Morgan Tonight appearance.

Accoring to Deadline Hollywood Beyonce’s pregnancy might slow down production on her acting gig in the upcoming reboot of A Star Is Born.

“Warner Bros was hoping to start production on Clint Eastwood’s musical remake of A Star Is Born as early as February 2012. But now insiders tell me it ‘could push’ because Beyoncé announced her pregnancy tonight at MTV’s VMAs. That will give the studio more time to settle on a male co-star for the singer/actress since Eastwood’s first choice, Leonardo DiCaprio, isn’t doing the pic.”

The film, which has been in development at Warner Brothers for several years. Rumor has it Will Smith and Christian Bale are among the stars being considered to share the screen with Beyoncé.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z have been married since 2008 and this will be the couple’s first child together. No word yet as to whether the child will use Knowles or Carter as a last name, or exactly how far along the couple are in their pregnancy.
