U.S. Rep. Jon Runyan (R-N.J.), a former offensive tackle in the NFL who was elected to Congress last year, likened the actions of “some” of his conservative colleagues to those of pro-football player Terrell Owens, the Los Angeles Times reports.
Runyan reportedly made the comparison during a closed-door House Republican Conference meeting in April. According to Politico, several GOP lawmakers “called out” Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) for criticizing a federal budget deal reached to prevent a government shutdown during the session. House Speaker John Boehner played a key role in achieving the agreement with Democrats.
