It appears that another ‘Basketball Wife’ can now call herself a single lady.

Gloria Govan, who has held down the role of the head “wife”-in-charge on Basketball Wives LA, is splitting with her fiance Matt Barnes of the LA Lakers.

Yesterday Matt Barnes announced in a email statement that he and Govan were calling it quits.

“I’d like to address the rumors surrounding mine and Gloria’s relationship. We have reached the difficult decision of ending our relationship and will be going our separate ways at this time. We will work together to raise our sons and wish each other only the best,” Barnes said.

Govan later tweeted a statement saying:

I’m sure you guys are hearing a ton of buzz about Matt and Me breaking up, sorry to say… its true!!! But the most important thing is focusing on my kids and continuing to have a good relationship with their father, thanks for your support!!!

The couple have 3-year-old twins, Carter Kelly and Isiah Michael and also share a home in Palos Verde, California.

Throughout this season of Basketball Wives Govan has been candid on wanting her fiance to set an official wedding date.

The pair called off their August 2010 wedding in lieu of a domestic dispute in which Matt Barnes was arrested after a call was placed to the police. Govan addressed the domestic issue on an episode of Basketball Wives earlier this year.

“We were arguing, I was leaving to New York and he didn’t want me to go..I was going to fashion week,” Govan said. “I think it was kind of all of our bickering throughout the summer, us canceling the wedding, us not knowing what we’re doing and all this other stuff, obviously the kids and you know, not knowing where to go. Everything kind of was like a volcano and then just burst.”

Maybe the couple will reconcile again after their latest split. If so, fans of reality show might be in for a surprising twist for season 2.

Marital bliss is proving to be somewhat of novelty on Basketball Wives LA, as Jackie Christie, wife of retired NBA player Doug Christie, and Malaysia Pargo, wife of Chicago’s Jannero Pargo are the only two legitimate married ladies in the cast.
