NEW YORK (AP) — New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz says he quickly got under a table and stayed down after hearing gunshots at a New York City supper club while celebrating his birthday with teammate Chris Canty and friends.

Cruz and Canty were scared but not hurt in the early Tuesday morning incident inside the Juliet Supper Club. The shooting was not related to the party.

While there were reports that five Giants were at the club at the time of the shooting, Canty and Cruz are the only ones who admit to being there. Safety Antrel Rolle says he left the club before the shooting and receiver Hakeem Nicks and cornerback Aaron Ross deny reports they were there.

The players were off Monday night, so there was no curfew.
