Welcome to the week in pop culture. Here’s all the latest and greatest black entertainment news from the week that was.

Queen Latifah says she plans to adopt
The 41-year-old actress-singer, Queen Latifah, is going to have her hands full in 2012 when she launches her new syndicated talk show. But according to a recent interview Latifah did with More magazine, she is also ready to take on motherhood. “I’m definitely going to adopt or have a child. I’ve wanted to adopt since I was 17 or 18 years old,” Latifah said.

Who can be the next Thriller?
That’s surely what everyone will be wondering once they hear that there is reportedly a Michael Jackson biopic in the works. Michael Jackson’s estate has approached Montecito Picture Company about producing and financing a Jackson biopic.

Chris Tucker to do new Friday movie?
Fans of the 1995 comedy Friday might be in for a treat according to the actor Tiny Lister, the guy who played Debo. Lister said Chris Tucker is in serious talks with Ice Cube about bringing the original cast back together again for a Friday sequel.

Kim Zolciak gets new show Don’t be tardy for the Wedding
Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak is trying to get that Kim Kardashian money as she prepares for the release of her new reality show Don’t Be Tardy for the Wedding. “The show will give an up close and personal look at the next chapter in my life,” says Zolciak.

Tyler Perry defends Kim Kardashian
Tyler Perry seems to be doing damage control to make sure his risky investment in Kim Kardashain proves to be profitable. This week Perry released a statement defending Kim, after receiving countless complaints from his most loyal fans over his controversial decision to cast her in his new movie The Marriage Counselor.

Justin Bieber’s paternity case gets withdrawn
This is becoming the mysterious case of baby Bieber. The woman who claims Justin Bieber is the father of her baby boy has decided to withdraw her lawsuit as she waits for the 17-year-old singer to take a paternity test.

Jay-Z takes heat from selling t-shirts
Being the clever businessman that Jay-Z is, he came up with idea to make a few dollars from the Occupy Wall Street movement, by creating a line of t-shirts with the slogan ‘Occupy All Streets.’ The hip-hop heavyweight immediately received backlash from critics after saying he did not plan on giving profits from the shirts to the Occupy movement. But the show goes on, and ‘Occupy All Streets’ t-shirts remain a hot selling item on Rocawear’s website.

Oh no she didn’t!
Kim Kardashian’s former publicist Jonathan Jackson has come out to say that her wedding was fake. He appeared on the morning show Good Day LA and said that the wedding was indeed “staged.”

NeNe Leakes is rich?
On the first episode of the Real Housewives of Atlanta this season, NeNe got into a fight with Sheree Whitfield. “Bi”>During the feud NeNe said *** I’m rich!”, and now she is making money from the clever slogan.

Whitney Houston says Sparkle role was meant for Aaliyah
It seems lately Whitney just can’t stop doing press for her new movie Sparkle. In a recent interview the actress revealed that she originally intended for Aaliyah to play the lead role in the film. The best part about the interview was Whitney appeared sober and coherent.

Pointer Sister arrested for drug possession
Bonnie Pointer, the 61-year-old founding member of the Pointer Sisters was arrested in L.A. for possessing a controlled substance. Hopefully Bonnie will rehabilitate her drug addition and also rehabilitate her career.

Love & Hip Hop bans glass on set
Apparently the producers on season 2 of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop are concerned that the ladies of the reality show are becoming too violent. Glass and silverware is now banned from the show sets during filming. This is something that VH1 probably should considering instituting on all of their reality shows.
