The weight of allegations of sexual harassment, sexual assault, and extramarital affairs finally has caused the “Cain Train” to veer completely off the rails.
Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain is expected to go home tomorrow to see his wife Gloria Cain face to face for the first time since Ginger White came forward with allegations of a 13 year long affair with Mr. Cain.
Mr. Cain spoke about the status of his run for President during a live interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News. Like earlier interviews Mr. Cain put on a brave face and later sent out campaign emails milking his supporters for even more money and support despite the fact that he says might decide to drop out of the race before Monday after consulting with his family and doing what he feels is in their best interest.

Surprisingly Mr. Cain claimed that his wife Gloria had no idea that he was giving money to Ginger White who he insists is just a “friend.” When asked how much money he gave to Ms. White Cain said he couldn’t answer on advice of counsel which is a very peculiar answer coming from a man running for president.
How is it that Herman Cain could be “friends” with a women who is not his wife for 13 years and help her financially with rent and other expenses but his wife Gloria Cain never had any idea that this other woman even existed?
It appears that Mr. Cain is clearly deceiving someone. His wife, the public, and perhaps even himself.
And while Mrs. Cain spoke out in support of her husband when the initial allegations of sexual harassment surfaced last month, it’s unlikely that she will face the cameras again to play the role of the good wife that’s become a staple in our modern politics. This latest development has just caused Herman Cain and his attorney Lin Wood who also did an interview tonight to reassert blanket denials with targeted speculation directed at the accusers for good measure.
This has got to stop. Both Cain and his attorney speculated that the women are in it for the money and yet they admit they have no proof. Mr. Cain can’t claim to be the victim of a smear campaign to derail his campaign for the White House while smearing these women for making up complete lies for cash.
Herman Cain is speculating without proof just as he is alleging all of the accusers are doing. In an interview with Lawrence O’Donnell, Ginger White denied receiving or being offered any money for coming forward. White says she spoke out because the local news was going to run the story whether she agreed to come forward or not.
She was able to produce phone records showing that she and Mr. Cain exchanged 83 text messages during the months of October and November of this year. Recently, the relationship was about Cain helping her financially and the beginning was about him flying her to various cities to have sex.
All the while Mrs. Cain had no idea that Ginger White even existed.
This is entire episode in American politics is a tragedy for Mrs. Cain and the children. Mr. Cain should have flown home immediately when the Ginger White news broke to speak to his wife of 43 years in person. Whether the allegations are true or not it seems that he doesn’t respect Mrs. Cain.
It’s not hard to imagine an affair after watching how he’s handled the allegations of harassment to an affair in the public domain. His ego is out of control. Blanket denials that you have never done anything inappropriate don’t cut it in the face of phone records of 4 a.m. text messages with a woman who is not your wife.
To this point, Cain’s bravado and blanket denials haven’t gone to such low depths to use his family as excuse or a cover for a campaign that’s been full of highs and lows. To use his family now as the reason to decide to leave the race without taking responsibility for his own actions, apologize to his supporters for lying to them repeatedly, and making a graceful and humble exit back to the motivational speaking circuit is infuriating.
Mr. Cain talks big and bold but when push came to shove he did what ever other politician caught with his pants down does, he cowers in the corner and will likely blame his exit on the need to shield his family he didn’t spend a second protecting from all this pain earlier.
Mr. Cain should have enough respect for his wife Gloria Cain, their children, and the public to drop out with a bit of humility for a change.
