The rumor is flying through sports circles: boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. placed a million-dollar bet that star NFL quarterback Tim Tebow would flop.

According to a report in the Las Vegas Review Journal, the buzz in Vegas sporting circles is that “Money” Mayweather put down the seven-figure bet that the Broncos’ quarterback would lose in his blockbuster match-up against the New England Patriots’ star QB Tom Brady.

If the rumors are true, Mayweather won big. The Broncos lost to the Patriots 41-23, ending a six-game winning streak with Tebow at the helm.

According to the Review-Journal:

Reached for comment Wednesday, Mike Colbert, Cantor Gaming sports book director at M Resort, wouldn’t confirm or deny the rumblings. Colbert said he wasn’t allowed to comment on who bets what but acknowledged Mayweather is “a valued customer who frequents the books quite often.”

Too bad he can’t use the money for bail, however. Mayweather is expected to report to jail January 6th to begin serving a 90 day sentence for domestic battery.
