Many NBA fans and commentators have bee labeling a recent slam dunk by LA Clipper Blake Griffin, “the dunk of the year.” But one high-scoring basketball star disagrees. Kevin Durants recently dismissed Griffin’s play as simply a “lay-up”. Huffington Post reports:

Whether you’re an NBA diehard or just a casual sports fan, you have probably seen Blake Griffin’s jaw-dropping dunk over Thunder center Kendrick Perkins approximately 37 times. At least. Many immediately dubbed it as the dunk of the year. Some went as far as calling it the dunk of the decade.

Kevin Durant, however, called it a layup.

The two-time All-Star had arguably the best view in the house during the electrifying play, standing at the top of the key, just a few feet away from Perkins as his teammate got posterized. And the reigning scoring champion (two years running) ripped the dunk while speaking with The Oklahoman’s Darnell Mayberry and said he has “no appreciation for it at all.”

“It was a layup, I think. He threw the ball in and got fouled and made a free throw,” he said. “So it’s three points at the end of the day.”
