theGRIO REPORT - The song truly shows how much the two singers have matured and grown, not only as artists but as women...

“The Boys Is Mine” was released in 1998 and became an instant sensation. Back then, singers Brandy and Monica battled it out in song (and in a memorable music video) for the love of the same man.

Recently, Brandy Norwood spoke to theGrio about her new role as Shardene on the hit BET show The Game and her comeback on the music scene. When asked if she would ever work with Monica again she said, “we should, that’s what the fans want.”

She kept true to her word as “It All Belongs to Me” was released today. The song is about moving on from a relationship and claiming ones material possessions.

The song truly shows how much the two singers have matured and grown, not only as artists but as women. Since the release of “The Boy is Mine” 14 years ago, fans have been dreaming of a second duet featuring these two R&B icons. During her interview with the Grio, Brandy said, ‘I’m just afraid because I do not want people to compare it to ‘The Boy is Mine.’ It would be completely new even though we are the same two artists.’’ Now it is up to the fans to decide which song they like better and if in fact this song is completely different from “The Boy is Mine.”
