A Washington, D.C. teacher was fired recently after taping a visually-impaired fourth grader to his chair, according to the New York Daily News. Christian Washington is nine years old and a student at Friendship Blow Pierce Junior Academy, a Washington, D.C. charter school. When his teacher became frustrated Wednesday, she decided to restrain the boy with tape.

“I thought my teacher was crazy,” he said, explaining how his frustrated instructor wrapped him in tape when he wouldn’t stop moving on Wednesday.

Washington’s mother, Terik, said she was told the teacher — who has not been identified — was fired. However, the school told 9News Now she was on administrative leave.

“At the end of the day, human resources made a phone call, and she was terminated,” Terik said.

A school employee told the Daily News they could not discuss the case.

Terik, who has filed a complaint with D.C. police, is still furious.
