The late Whitney Houston’s legacy is sure to be solidified with her performance in the highly anticipated film Sparkle. This morning NBC’s Today revealed an exclusive first look at the trailer for the movie, which is set to hit theaters August 17.

In the clip, which lasts nearly a minute, Whitney looks better than ever, and will possibly deliver her best on-screen performance.

Sparkle is the remake of a 1976 film with the same name, and is about a Supremes-like group of sisters that have to deal with the ups and downs of fame. Houston plays the mother of the lead character, Sparkle, who is played by American Idol alum Jordin Sparks.
