Nick Cannon released the first episode of his “NCredible Health Hustle” web series Monday via YouTube. The video shows the beginning of Cannon’s road to recovery after suffering “mild” kidney failure as the result of an autoimmune disorder. TV Guide reports:

Cannon premiered the first episode Monday on his website, writing, “Kidney disease and Lupus are serious ailments but, as you’ll see through these videos in the coming weeks, it is possible to put the reins on it a bit and gain control of your health and wellness.”

The first episode opens with footage of his wife, Mariah Carey, playing in the snow with their 11-month-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe. “A few days ago, I was with my family in the snow, playing, having a good time,” Cannon narrates. “All of a sudden, I started swelling up, having shortness of breath, excruciating pain in my right side. I wake up in the hospital, a bunch of doctors telling me I’ve got kidney failure.”

Later in the video, Cannon, 31, is seen getting an IV and learning of his diagnosis.

Cannon has since changed his diet and stepped down from his radio show to focus on his health. “I thank all of you for the continuous messages, and want you to know it inspires me to keep pushing,” he adds in his note. “Hoping this series serves as inspiration for anyone dealing with kidney disease, lupus or ANY ILLNESS to keep pushing as well.”
