Rapper Jay-Z’s love for the New York Yankees is documented in numerous tracks in his extensive catalog. He himself has been credited for making the Yankee baseball cap popular within hip hop and can be seen regularly attending home games. Now with his fashion label Rocawear signing a partner with the Yankees, Jay-Z’s passion for the pinstripes has been taken one step closer. SOHH has the latest.

Rap mogul Jay-Z’s cherished Rocawear clothing line has officially announced a new partnership with major league baseball team New York Yankees for the entire 2012 season.

Young Hov’s Rocawear camp made the announcement official Wednesday (April 11) afternoon.

Rocawear announced today a sponsorship with 27 time World Series Champions, the New York Yankees. For the 2012 season, Rocawear will have branded signage in Yankee stadium and integrated promotions throughout the season. Jameel Spencer, EVP Marketing, men’s division, Iconix Brand Group, Inc., commented, “Jay-Z has been a long-time fan of the Yankees, regularly attends games and has even included his favorite team in song lyrics, so this was a natural partnership.
