Zimmerman, 28, is charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Martin. He claimed self-defense.

The hearing, before Judge Kenneth Lester Jr., could result in bail being set for Zimmerman, unless prosecutors successfully object. Members of Zimmerman’s family are expected to testify by telephone, and besides the Martin family and their attorneys, Zimmerman’s friend Frank Taaffe, who lives in the Sanford gated community where the shooting took place February 26th, will attend the hearing.
