NEWS ONE – We love our first lady Michelle Obama and so do her two beautiful tween girls, Sasha and Malia. Mrs. Obama’s love is the sustaining force in her family, and as a mom, she is making it her business to serve as a strong example of womanhood for her two girls. The first lady has said that she stands as an example of what is possible when girls from the very beginning of their lives are cared for, nurtured, and loved by those around them.

Michelle Obama has also often said that she came from a woman, Marian Shields Robinson, whom she contends, served as her greatest example, teaching her quiet dignity and strength. Mrs. Obama, we honor you this Mother’s Day as we count the reasons why you are an exemplary mom.

1) Mrs. Obama is a hands-on mom.

Even as first lady, you have said countless times that it is your responsibility to raise your girls and no one else’s. Hats off to you for keeping your children a priority!

2) Mrs. Obama is vigilant about what her children put into their mouths.

So that Malia and Sasha don’t suffer from the obesity that is plaguing our children in this country, the Obama girls are not even allowed to go into the fridge to get what they want, they must first ask Mom. The first lady is also very concerned about the children in this country; one-third of American kids are overweight (40 percent in African-American and Latino communities) and 17 percent are obese. Mrs. Obama launched her campaign against childhood obesity, “Let’s Move!” in order to help combat chronic obesity-related health problems like heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, and asthma by promoting a healthier lifestyle for our kids.
