Reminiscent of rapper Erick Sermon’s hit song, Music, another emcee has called upon the services of the late Marvin Gaye. Up and coming rapper Oddisee dug in the crates to put a creative spin on a song from the Motown singer’s catalogue. Oddisee took Gaye’s “Aint That Peculiar”, found the vintage footage of him performing it live, and mashes it in a way that it matches the remix’s up-tempo boom bap. After two verses of Marvin singing, Oddisee then joins him on the track to spit a bar about love and affection to make the duet complete. Scheduled to appear on Oddisee’s EP Odd Renditons May 15th, we can only hope we hear more updated classics like this from the DC emcee.
