Today, the memorial service for Chuck Brown, the godfather of Go-Go was held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. Thousands mourned the man who many describe as an inspiration. NBCWashington reports from the  Walter E. Washington Convention Center:

Flags in the city are flying at half-staff Thursday, the day Godfather of Go-Go Chuck Brown is being remembered during a public memorial service.

The service is scheduled to run until 4 p.m. at the Washington Convention Center, and you can watch it live here on NBCWashington.com, or on NBC Washington Nonstop (Comcast channel 208, Fios channel 460, Cox channel 803, 4.2 over the air, RCN varies).

D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray, who called Brown a “personal friend of mine,” spoke at the memorial service and offered up a preview of what he was going to do in the go-go legend’s honor in a few days.
