Actress Gwyneth Paltrow has been under scrutiny this week for a tweet that some are calling racially insensitive. While attending Jay-Z and Kanye’s Watch The Throne concert in Paris, the Oscar-winning actress, tweeted ‘ni**a in Paris for real’ and her followers began to weigh in. But it appears she may not have been the one who sent n-word tweet in the first place.

Music producer The-Dream was in attendance with Paltrow at the WTT concert and claimed he accidentally sent the tweet thinking it was his phone instead of hers. As her Twitter timeline began to fill with criticism and hate, The-Dream defended Gwyneth tweeting that even if she did send the tweet, she didn’t using the N- word in its offensive context.

No matter what your feelings are on the n-word, this isn’t the first (or last ) time a white person has used it when referencing a hip-hop track, so is the backlash warranted?
