NBC Philadelphia- The White House is looking for kid chefs to submit original recipes, as part of the Healthy Lunchtime Challenge. Winners will be invited to attend a Kids’ “State Dinner” at the White House in August, where a selection of the recipes will be served, according to Letsmove.gov.

On the website, First Lady Michelle Obama talks about the challenge, “We all want to ensure that our kids are eating nutritious, delicious food at every meal, and as a mom I know that parents are always looking for new ideas to make that happen. With parents and kids all across the country getting creative in the kitchen, I know we’ll find healthy meals that every family will enjoy.”

Kids must be between the ages of 8-12, and are encouraged to look at the MyPlate nutritional guidelines to create their healthy recipes, which should represent each food group.
