NEW YORK (AP) — Representatives for Chris Brown say the hip hop star, his girlfriend and other friends were the victims of a “brutal assault” at a Manhattan nightclub.

Police say five people suffered injuries in the fight at club W.i.P. among members of Brown’s and Drake’s entourages. It’s not clear what prompted the fight.

Brown is cooperating with New York City police.

A representative for Drake says the hip hop star was on his way out of the club and didn’t do anything wrong.

No arrests have been made.

Both Brown and Drake dated singer Rihanna, but Brown remains on supervised probation for beating her in 2009.

Brown tweeted a photo of himself with a cut chin, then later removed it, as well as other messages about the fight, including epithets and taunts.
