‘The ‘Obama Effect,’ a phrase often used to describe the president’s ability to politically influence Americans with his message of change, is now the basis of a new movie.

The Obama Effect is the comedic story of a middle-aged  insurance salesman John Thomas, played by actor Charles S. Dutton, who, after a serious health scare, becomes obsessed with President Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign. At a time when he is struggling to make change in his own life, his wife, played by actress Vanessa Bell Calloway, hopes that his willingness to act and get Barack Obama elected will help him make positive changes for himself.

The  film co-stars comedian Kat Williams as MLK, a Republican relative who is initially opposed to voting for a Democratic candidate, and actress  Meagan Good plays Tamika, John Thomas’s  estranged daughter.

The Obama Effect is  scheduled to be released  in select theaters on July 13th via AMC Theaters.
