The 2012 Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala took place at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City on June 14th.  Singer and songwriter Ne-Yo was among the honorees of the night.  The Source has the story:

This month Ne-Yo was honored at the The 2012 Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. Ne-Yo recieved the Hal David Starlight Award, which is presented to young songwriters who are making a significant impact in the music industry with their original songs. (Drake received the same award last year.) Hip-hop artist and producer Swizz Beatz presented Ne-Yo’s award. Ne-Yo said he was humbled by the award, accepting it with “100% gratitude.” Before an incredible performance of his hit, “So Sick,” Ne-Yo told the audience that he is so appreciative that he is able to do what he feels like he was born to do.
