WIMBLEDON, England (AP) — Serena Williams did much better than big sister Venus at Wimbledon, defeating Barbora Zahlavova Strycova 6-2, 6-4 Tuesday in the first round.

Playing on the same Court 2 where Venus lost in straight sets a day earlier, Williams took command by breaking her Czech opponent three times in the first set. The players then traded breaks twice in the second before Williams broke again in the 10th game, converting her second match point when the 62nd-ranked Zahlavova Strycova sent a forehand long.

Williams was 46-0 in the first round of Grand Slam tournaments before losing her opening match at this year’s French Open.
